đź‘€ Everyone's sleeping on the power of peer-to-peer..

Example in action + an invite for tomorrow!

👋 Hey folks! A quick one for you today. In ~1 min you’ll get a little nugget about peer-to-peer communities + an invite to get involved.

The context: Everyone's sleeping on the power of peer-to-peer, because the true beauty of it so isn't obvious…

Take this example👇🏽

This question was asked in Generalist World last week:

17 responses have rolled in so far. Insights, resources, questions. But the real magic?

💡 The secret sauce lies not in the fact that the original poster had their question answered 10x better than a Google search.

But that *multiple people* have walked away with this knowledge now too.

We see responses from folks who just weren’t intentionally seeking answers to this question, yet it really helped them.

"What a useful thread! Giving 2 workshops in the next 2 weeks. Thanks to everyone"

"What brilliant answers here. Saving for future ref!"

This is peer-to-peer in action. This is community in action. Picking up tidbits with each and every post. Learning about stuff you may never have come across otherwise!

Think of it like an ever-evolving encyclopedia of shared knowledge. Pretty awesome, right?!

Get a taste of what peer-to-peer magic is like at our Speed Networking events being held tomorrow. It's free, open to all, and loads of fun! RSVP here.

Have a good one!! 🙂

đź’Ą Bonus!

Interested in the responses? Here’s a few of my faves:

  • Food for thought:

    • Whenever I create icebreakers, I always tie the icebreaker to the session. To me, an icebreaker has such an opportunity to (1) create energy, (2) turn the flow of conversation and thinking on, (3) and draw attention to the purpose of the day, with everyone on a level playing field, that to do an icebreaker that isn’t relevant to the task at hand is actually more jarring than helpful.

    • In your case, an interesting partner activity (2 people) could be:

    • Consider what bias you have that you might have to overcome during this session and why? Where does it come from?

    • People then come back and share it with the group

    • Then, throughout the day, you ask people to check their biases

  • If we are having an icebreaker, it’s about bonding with the group for me, but if it’s meant to be semi-related to the session topic, I’d rather just right into the topic instead of having a weak icebreaker activity that often doesn’t fit

  • Put an assortment of sticky notes on the wall, each containing a random word or phrase. Give them 10 minutes to categorize the sticky notes however they see fit by moving them around and clustering/stacking/organizing them, but don’t allow them to talk. This is ideal in groups of 3-4 people, so if you have 8, just set up two stations. Then at the end of 10 minutes, have the groups explain the categorization. Bonus points for having one group try to explain the categorization of the other group’s stickies.

  • One that I love from Solution Focused coaching is:

    • Have 2 people interview each other with the question: What’s improved since we last met?

    • Instruct that when they come back, they might like to share with the group

    • It gets them focused on positive change, which is great for a seminar
